When the temperatures begin to cool, guests will find that there is still an abundance of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed during their stay. Winter offers the choice of hunkering down by the warmth of the fireplace, venturing out to the hot-tub in the midst of pines laden with snow, or taking the more adventurous route of enjoying winter sports. The closest ski hills are just 10 minutes away, groomed cross-country skiing trails are even closer, and sledding and ice-skating can be enjoyed on site.

Hiking & Cross Country Skiing

A few of our guests favorite hikes, all within a short 5-10 minute drive, include:

  • Ice Age Trail section to Rice Lake  (breath-taking views, 5 minute drive)
  • Bald Bluff Nature Trail (scenic overlook, 10 minute drive)
  • Nordic Trails (easiest, no elevation change, 10 minute drive)
  • Petersen Island Woods Preserve - Kettle Moraine Land Trust (10 minute drive)

Ice Fishing & Skating

Guests can partake in activities like fishing and ice skating directly on site during their stay at the lake. The fish that inhabit the lake include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, and Northern Pike. Guests also have the option to take a charter or fishing guide during their stay, there are local options available:

Snowmobiling
